Brewers Sweep the Dodgers to Reach the World Series

A baseball stadium at night with a game in progress

The Milwaukee Brewers are going to the World Series. The National League’s top seed completed a stunning four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, winning the pennant and sending the franchise to the Fall Classic for the first time since 1982.

NLCS results

  • Game 1: Brewers 2, Dodgers 1
  • Game 2: Brewers 7, Dodgers 4
  • Game 3: Brewers 6, Dodgers 2
  • Game 4: Brewers 6, Dodgers 4

How Milwaukee did it

The Brewers won with a formula that has defined their season: deep pitching, sharp defence and timely hitting. A tense 2–1 victory in Game 1 set the tone, and Milwaukee’s lineup broke through in Games 2 and 3. The Dodgers, with one of the sport’s largest payrolls, never led the series and could not find answers to Milwaukee’s bullpen in the late innings.

A milestone for a small-market club

Milwaukee’s only previous World Series appearance came in 1982, when the club played in the American League. A championship would be the first in franchise history. For a team operating in one of baseball’s smallest markets, beating the Dodgers so decisively is a powerful statement about player development and roster construction.

Sweeping the Dodgers in October isn’t an upset any more — it’s a message.

Who they’ll face

In the American League, the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays are still battling in a closely fought ALCS that Cleveland opened by winning two of the first three games. The winner will host or visit Milwaukee when the World Series begins on Friday, October 23.

What to watch

  • Rest vs rust: The Brewers will have several days off before Game 1 — enough to reset their rotation.
  • Bullpen usage: Milwaukee’s relievers carried a heavy load; their freshness will be key.
  • Home-field advantage: Determined by regular-season record between the two pennant winners.
