Verstappen Wins in Singapore, but Antonelli’s Title Lead Stays Over 100 Points

Marina Bay in Singapore lit up at night

Max Verstappen produced a commanding drive under the lights at Marina Bay to win the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, but the bigger story of the night was the championship table. Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished third behind Charles Leclerc, extending a remarkable season and keeping his lead at 102 points with six rounds remaining.

Verstappen’s statement win

Singapore’s tight, bumpy street circuit rewards precision and patience, and Verstappen delivered both. The win underlines that Red Bull has found competitive pace in the second half of the season, even if a fifth title looks out of reach this year. Leclerc gave Ferrari another strong result, helping the Scuderia consolidate second in the constructors’ standings.

Antonelli’s march to history

For Antonelli, third place was a mature, points-banking drive. The young Italian has transformed expectations in his second season with Mercedes, and his consistency has left his rivals — including teammate George Russell — chasing a large deficit. With 150 points still available to drivers over the final rounds, the maths is not yet settled, but each weekend without a slip makes his position stronger.

The championship is no longer a question of pace for Antonelli — it is a question of nerve.
